hotels in Pattaya????? Also Bangkok???
Hi, I first decided on going to Jakarta, then Bali, then Hua Hin, then Pattaya, then Bangkok and then again Hua Hin. Finally I decided that I will go to Pattaya for 4 nights and Bangkok for 1 night.. Now in Pattaya, the cheapest 5 star hotel is Amari Orchid resort and tower… But I am confused why it is so cheap. Do you know how good Amari hotel ocean tower in Pattaya is??? If you think this hotel is not good, recommend me a hotel.. I hope Amari is good. Also, what are the good visiting places, attractions, tours and shopping places in pattaya???
Moving on to Bangkok, again I am staying at cheap(er) 5 star Amari Watergate Hotel. Is it good?? Should I stay there? As I am going there for a night and my mom would like some shopping– where should I go for shopping??
Thanks a lot for answering.. This answer will help me out a lot…

Had the good fortune to stay at the Amari Orchid on a short business trip in May and thought the hotel was excellent. The room and facilities were superb and the staff were considerate, friendly and extremely helpful. Definitely looking forward to staying there again the next time I am in Pattaya.

This hotel was renewed end of 2007. Everything was new during our stay. We booked a room in the Gardenwing (wich is the old wing), Ocean tower is new wing. Our wing was great. Rooms are nice and clean. Comfort as a 5* hotel. The Ocean tower is even more luxuous. The hotel has 2 swimming pools, 1 is an infinity pool with jacuzzi. Enough sunbeds around the pool, towels available at pool. Great service around the pool. Refreshing towels are distributed every day (free) and sometimes fruit snacks are distributed aswell.

We stayed at amari for five nights. The hotel is simply the best location you can find in bangkok. With pratunam market, platinum mall, pantip plaza and central mall within just 5 mins walking distance!! Also, the rooms are pretty wouldn’t say five star though. The breakfast and food spread is pretty good too.

Pattaya shopping places:
Royal Garden and Central (”Big C”) Shopping malls are air conditioned and have lots and lots of stores. Walking street in the evening is fun, same for Second Road and Beach road. The locals go to Carrefour shopping mall on Pattaya Klang (central) road… great deals there… also, locals go to Tesco Lotus and Big C superstores, several locations.
The brand new “THE AVENUE” shopping center is almost across from the Marriott, and is quite magnificent. It’s all open air, but has lots and lots of high quality indoor air-conditioned shops and restaurants. It has state of the art movie theaters too. The VILLA SUPERMARKET on the ground floor is the best in town. It also has a great dining counter, open 24 hours every day, that has great quality food, at reasonable prices, very popular with the local expats. There is an outdoor Heineken beer garden, that has live bands every night, in a wonderful setting, very relaxing, and great music, going til very late. There are at least twenty restaurants, from fast food, to high class places. McDonald’s, Au Bon Pan, pizza places, lots of ice cream places, hamburger places up to very nice full service restaurants. There are lots of stores for everything tourists and locals would want.
The MIKE SHOPPING MALL is popular with tourists, lots of reasonably priced clothing, suitcases, souvineers, etc. It is between Beach Road and Second Road, not far from the Avenue Shopping center.
