Bali travel… bugs?? weather?? location?? safety?? nightlife?
We are considering Bali for our honeymoon in early June…
1- Is it true there are terrible mosquitoes and other biting insects
2-How much rain can we expect?
3-I know there have been recent instabilities politically. Willthis change anything about our trip?
4-We will be staying in Nusu Dua but want to stay one other place as well to experience different surroundings.. any suggestions?
5- Is there decent (and safe) nightlife? Where?

I will answer in order:
1. I was there for 2 weeks in August and did got bit once by an ant while I was sitting next to a pool, but other than that…no insects, especially mosquitoes.
2:Bali does not get a whole lot of rain, and when it does it is on the inner island for the most part. Rain was not part of my vacation, the weather was beautiful.
3: Any political instabilities are overshadowed by Indonesias poverty. Bali plays an integral part in Indonesias income. You will not see, as I did not, any issues arising from issues in the government.
4: If you want to stay somewhere else besides Nusa Dua I would recommend Kuta. I stayed at the Balisandy hotel on Poppies 2 and had a blast. I have come to realize that the people are the best in the world.
5: The nightlife on Legian is fantastic, and safe. Again, while I was in Bali I did not catch an attitude from anyone and everybody was nice. Thats right, I said everyone. These people survive off tourism and apparently dont want to blow it. I have been to Mexico, Europe, and Thailand and Bali was by far the safest.
And if you end up staying at the Balisandy tell the waitresses the american Jimmy said hello.
