I was dumped, what should I do?
I am from a well off prominent family. My father, Minos, holds a very important office, and my mother’s family is even more powerful. I have six siblings. We have eh… kind of sport competition, when youth show their stamina and athletic achievement in a special kind of jumping. We have people coming from abroad to participate, and one year there came a foreigner call Theseus. I fell in love with him at the first sight and helped him to win. When he won, I ran away from home with him. It was a huge step for me, I had led very pampered existence before. Theseus came by boat, and I joined him on that boat. We travelled from an island to an island and once, when I was asleep, he simply dumped me on Naxos! I gave everything I could to this man: I gave up my family, helped him to cheat and to win an important prise in competition, abandoned my native land, and he dropped me off as I was, without any hesitation or remorse, and went away! I was so silly to believe him! What should I do?
Don’t worry, I have a good feeling that somebody else will come along really soon, rescue you and propose. Does the name Dionysus ring any bells?
As for that wretched Theseus, it’s a bit old-fashioned and a tad OTT but how about putting a curse on him? Maybe he’ll forget to do something really important and end up seriously upsetting his dad.
