Thinking About Rarotonga? What About A resort In Aitutaki?

A resort in Aitutaki may be just what the doctor ordered! If you’re looking for a pacific escape to enjoy white golden beaches, the endless blue sky and the friendliness of the people there, Rarotonga is an excellent choice. Popular for both those who want to get married or honeymoon in a romantic setting or just to take a break away from their busy lives this collection of pretty islands are ideal. And Aitutaki is the jewel in the crown of the Cooks.

If you want to book a holiday at the island you’ll need to fly first into Rarotonga’s international airport. This island in the centre of the Cooks is a beautiful combination of mountain peaks, white beaches and verdant tropical rain forests. Many people will often take a day or two to look around the commercial area of Avarua and enjoying the friendly pacific atmosphere.

However the real retreat from all things commercial and busy happens when you board your plane to visit a resort in Aitutaki. This small island is surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful turquoise waters, and white beaches that sparkle as if made from diamonds. It’s forty five kilometre long lagoon is teeming with brightly coloured tropical fish in it’s warm water, prefect to swim, play and snorkel in.

It’s perimeter is surrounded by small islands that are uninhabited and visitors to the island feel they are almost the only people in the world.

If you are thinking about visiting the area, it’s good to know a few important details about it.

If you prefer your island holidays a little more temperate, the best months to visit are from June to August. From November to March the weather does get hotter, and there is more likelihood of experiencing the odd tropical shower. The average temperature of the drier months between April to November is 26 degrees celsius, with it fluctuating between 22-28 degrees Celsius in the other more humid and wetter months.

While bikinis are perfect for resort wear, if you do venture into Rarotonga’s towns and villages it’s best to cover up a little in respect to the cultural norms of the area. The country uses New Zealand currency, and eftpos facilities are prevalent. If you have another form of currency you can change this at the airport or at some of the larger hotels.

Choosing to stay at a resort in Aitutaki is like saying yes to a holiday of rejuvenation, relaxation and refreshment. Could anything be nicer than that?
