I need information on catalina island hotels. I am going on my honeymoon and need a good hotel. please help?
We want something nice, near the beach and with a big bathtub. Oh also reasonable priced.
Best choice for honeymoon would have to be the old Wrigley Mansion on Mt. Ada, known currently as the Inn on Mt. Ada. Note, they book up way in advance so if your honeymoon is soon you’ll likely be out of luck. It’s be best place to stay on the entire island. Of course, it’s priced that way too, but note the 2 meals, snacks and champagne, as well as the golf cart rental that come with room rate. Seriously, this is the top place to stay. You probably aren’t going to be in Catalina for more than a few nights anyway, and it is your honeymoon. Why in the world would you want a reasonably priced hotel for your honeymoon? If this isn’t the time to go luxurious, then when will it be?

If they’re not available or you can’t swing the cost, try the Avalon Hotel which is pretty modern and a little less pricey. Avoid hotels on Cresent between the pier and Summer St. as it’s very very noisy there, lots of late night partying, which is fun if you’re into that I guess but for a honeymoon I’d think you’d want it a little quieter and private.
You could also read the reviews on tripadvisor for their rankings of the Avalon area hotels. Note you can zoom in on Avalon map section so you know the noisy area to avoid. Here’s the link http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocalMaps-g29121-Avalon-Area.html
I’ve also liked the Terrado Terrace on Manilla because of it being away from the noise of the harbor area and enjoyed the several block walk to the harbor from the hotel, but oh is that a steep hike! Not exactly honeymoon atmosphere though…ok but not special. But if price is a concern this might be the most quiet, private place for the price.
My advice: especially stay away from the Glenmore Plaza, it’s walls are superthin and outside is supernoisy.
