Inexpensive hotels for weddings around the grimsby area?
Am getting married in december 2010 and have decided to look for a venue early to give us plenty of time to pay for it and concentrate on other details.
However the search is proving quite difficult.
Our wedding isn’t going to be very traditional. The theme is red and black, very flamboyant with a slightly gothic edge. We don’t want a venue that looks like a conference hall as some tend to. Peach generic decor is a definite no as the room would just look stupid with the other details added.
We had fallen in love with the priory hotel in louth but the quote we received was too much for our budget. The most reasonable we have had so far was £3600 for millfields hotel which is ok but the menu’s don’t sound very nice.
We really don’t know where to look next.
A church wedding is out of the question as we would both feel hypocritical as neither of us is religious.

Difficult – but I’d advise looking at venues other than the usual hotels – especially if you’re looking to get a special theme. An example of a Gothic Revival castle near you would be Allerton Castle, however this might prove too expensive for what you want.
The advantages of finding an unusual venue are many – but one potential pitfall is that you may need outside caterers. There are many really good outside caterers, that can create a magnificent meal in the most challenging locations – but as they are effectively delivering a production kitchen to a location for one event, this is necessarily quite expensive.
You could contact the National Trust for a list of venues in your vicinity that have civil ceremonies licenses.
